Okay...that wasn't the house either. Long story...has to do with the estate wanting more than we feel it is worth.
There is yet ANOTHER house to look at. It is down on the next block. There is an Open House Sunday afternoon. Church, church dinner, then Open House.
Things are pretty quiet...have been around here. I won't complain. There is usually some kind of chaos to follow. Let's hope not!
Not sure what to expect for this next week. I know Troy has a golf game on Monday and then Michigan the rest of the week. It is the kids' last week of school.
I am still sending out resumes. Something will happen sooner or later...job/house.
I'm tired...and the storm is coming in. Later!

Trying It Again
We looked at another house this week. I actually looked at it Monday evening without Troy. I thought maybe I would save him some trouble. I wasn't expecting it to be anything much. But I was wrong! What you see on the outside is not what you would expect on the inside! It is really a rather large house!
So, Troy and TJ got back Wednesday night and Thursday bright and early we were at this house with the realtor to have a look at it with Troy. He looked it all over really well. The kitchen is outdated and needs some changes along with a little work in the finished basement area but not too much work. Little things that we can do. He really likes the property, too. After thinking about it for two days and talking things over we came to an agreement. And we made an appt. with the realtor to fill out papers. We will see how it goes.

This is the front view of the house. As I said, it looks small from the front but it has quite a lot of room inside! Good sized kitchen, diningroom, large livingroom, large family room w/fireplace, 2 baths, 5 bedrooms, florida room, and the other half of the basement is painted and neat with a laundry room/workbench/storage AND STILL room leftover for a pool table! It all still needs to be finished, though. But do-able. The neighborhood is the one we live in now...quiet suburbia. Neat yards, friendly neighbors. The house is a block from the schools so Bethany would have it easy getting back and forth to school.
Speaking of which, she is off at The Avenue tonight with her pack of friends and tomorrow has her GS outing to Jungle Jim's and Ikea. The only thing I can figure out about that is it has something to do with their 'study' of different cultures. *shrug*. And TJ is at the movies with his gf. He was nice and went with her to see a movie that SHE wanted to see. He is excited becuz he put a job application in at Wal-mart and they have been checking out his references. So, he is hoping to be gainfully employed soon.
And what did Troy and I do this evening? Oh, it was EXCITING! He took me grocery shopping. LOL We really know how to stir up trouble! The day has been cold and rainy. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and nice. I hope so. Troy is playing in a church golf tournament.
Have a nice Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

Various Perspectives

I got this picture of the bird that is inhabiting the house in our backyard. The house was made by Troy's brother Deaken and it is beautiful! I could only get so close and the zoom on my camera isn't that great. The bird has a blue color on its back so I am not sure what kind of bird it is.
We have been watching the Cardinals come and get seed, lots of sparrows, some robins, blue jays, a couple of little yellow birds, and those nasty grackels. There is the bunny family and Scrawny, of course.

This is a recent pic of 'the daughter'. She is holding a guinea pig at her friend Felicia's house.
I have tried to get a picture of 'the son' but he has been too busy lately...girlfriend, you know. She keeps him on the run. I put my foot down with it, though. He had to tell her that next weekend he will be hanging with his friend Steven. You just CAN'T ignore your friends. TJ will not get much gf time this week. He and Dad will be heading up to Cleveland for a school field trip to the Rock Hall of Fame...what that has to do with U.S. Gov't. class I have no idea!
Bethany's band spent the day at King's Island yesterday. She's rather worn out. Next weekend is a GS 'thing'. They are going to Jungle Jim's and Akea (why...again, I have no idea). TJ and Steven are planning a gaming weekend.
Nothing new on the housing front. Just a 'sit and wait' game right now.
I'm STILL trying to work out my resume. Ick.
Here is something funny! I was in the pet store getting stuff for the hamsters and this guy with some sort of foreign accent and a little doggie on a chain is trying to ask the cashier for something. "I am wanting some electric nail clippers...pedophiles?" We both look at him startled. He stammers, "Or something like....what do you call them?" I held in my laugh until I got outside the store! Poor guy!
Bethany shared this with me and I think it is a good thing to end with:

Hang In There
Had to get out early this morning to take TJ to the doctor's. His bimonthly med check-up appt. The doctor insisted on giving him an Rx for something to help him get to sleep faster. TJ told him that he keeps a notebook by his bed and writes down whatever is on his mind then he can get to sleep. The doctor insisted on giving him an Rx to make him pass right out. WHAT THE HECK? I told TJ that I read when I go to bed...until my eyelids will no longer stay up. THEN I go to sleep. I didn't see anything wrong with what he was doing to get to sleep! TJ said he didn't either and he wasn't taking those pills. I threw out the Rx. These doctors are too quick to give you stuff you don't need and not quick enough to give you the help you DO need.
Cars were lined up at the Shell station on one corner. Gas was $3.64. The Speedway across the way had gasoline for $3.95. The BP station across the street from Shell was selling gas for $3.64/gallon too but no one seemed to be going there. I dropped TJ off at the house and told him to drive his car up to the Shell station. I went and started filling my van. He drove up to the the next pump and I gave him money to fill his tank too. The pumps were moving VERY slow. And while I was standing there, shivering in the cold wind, I was thinking how utterly pathetic it was that cars are lining up for gas at $3.64/gallon. This is ridiculous!
We went to look at another house last night. We thought this one might be closer to what we want. I couldn't get away from there fast enough. It sits on almost 2 acres. The only way I could see that I would live there is to buy it for cheap, bulldoze down the house, rip out the bushes, and build a new house. Unbelievable. The whole upstairs...all of it...every room...was painted cocoa brown. The downstairs was painted a I-need-my-sunglasses-sunshine yellow. The bedrooms were just big enough to plop a bed into. I won't belabor it...let's just say...EW!
I looked at the realtor as we were leaving and I said, "I quit. Each house seems to get worse!" She just told me to hang in there. WHY? blech
At least the sun is out today. It is supposed to be warmer by 3 p.m. so I am going out and pot some flowers. That should make me feel better.

A Good Night
It was a good night for Cleveland sports...a Tribe win and a Cavs win...despite LeBron being the recipient of a clothesline to the throat.
Troy managed to fix TJ's side view mirror. Jet glue is good to have around! AND he had to do some acrobatics to replace the blower relay. It only worked on the highest settings when we bought the car. Now it works on all settings.
Troy took Bethany out tonight for Mom's Day shopping but I ended up meeting them at the store with the van. He bought a new flat screen...and no, it is NOT my Mother's Day present. He is still playing with it. Something about trying to program in the surround sound. At least Monday night I will be able to watch the Cavs in HD big screen.
We did a drive by viewing of another house today. I had to email the realtor to add it to the list of homes for us to tour. It is rather far off on the SW side of town. It sits on two acres...the back acre is all wide open. No neighbors behind them and on the one side is a church. Can't wait to see the inside. I'm really holding my breath. I'm tired of looking at houses that the owners haven't taken very good care of. We could buy a new house (and pick out our flooring, etc.) in the new housing development on the west side of town BUT...those housing developments make me itch! Cookie cutter houses...too close together.
It was a beautiful day today. Sunshine, blue skies, not too hot. May we have more days like this!
Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms out there!

Something In The Air
The weather is horrid, isn't it? Tornadoes touched down just SE of us Thursday night. Brought back bad memories of Arkansas! It has rained torrents for days. Thank heaven a drainage bed was put in around the back and side of the house. So far, so good!
Bethany had a band concert last night AND had band contest tonight at Troy High School. She came home and was in bed by 8 p.m. She tires so easily! Next Saturday they go to Kings Island.
TJ has been handing in job applications...to no avail! Not sure what the problem is. I know it is his first job, but still! He tried backing his car out of the garage the other night, while I was in class, and broke the passenger side mirror off his car. Troy said he thinks he can fix it with the jet glue he has. TJ better hope so! The last mirror (that some vandals broke off) cost us about $50 to replace...and that's only becuz Troy put it on.
I finished my computer classes Wednesday night. I'm not happy with the outcome. I did good with Word and Powerpoint (LOVED my Powerpoint!) and good with Access. But Excel kicked my butt. I barely passed. And to think I have a WHOLE class of it this summer.
Troy did some traveling this last week and is hoping to be home this coming week. It makes it easier for looking at houses.
Which we did today...looked at houses...4 of them. It was supposed to be 5 but for some reason the realtor couldn't get a hold of the owners of the 5th house. So, maybe later.
Shall I tell you about what we looked at? I shall! LOL
The first house we walked into and the living room was filled with satin covered fancy look-at-it-but-don't-sit-on-it furniture...and lots of crystal stuff. The kitchen/diningroom floor was covered in this red and green plaid carpet!!!! EEEEEWWWWW!!! And the diningroom had lots of crytal doodads. Everything in the house was covered in lace and roses! There was a porch outside that you couldn't get to from the inside of the house...and you had to walk all the way around the house to get there! I really have no idea...PLUS a HUGE above ground pool in the middle of the yard...with no deck. Alrighty then.
Next house...absolutely NO back yard. None. Tiny bedrooms. Cat smell.
Third house...tri-level...gross house. And again...cat smell.
Fourth house...has possibilities. It has a full basement that could be finished. A florida room that can be enclosed and the heat and air run out there for Troy's office...put a deck on the back. Lovely yard. BIG yard. Nice, well maintained and QUIET neighborhood. And the price is cheap enough so that you don't mind making some changes. It still needs a storage shed out back...but that is the biggest problem. There is a leak in the one corner of the basement but we saw why...easily remedied. I don't know... something to put on the back burner.
We will still keep looking. I just look at some of these houses and wonder...WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

Still Hunting
It has been awhile.
THOUGHT we found a house. Troy liked a lot of things about it and I did, too. We got the paperwork all done up and then....I changed my mind. The more I thought about it, the more I worried about it. I told the realtor I wasn't so much nervous about the price OR the things that needed fixing...it was the combination of the two. I was worried about buying a money pit.
So I sent the realtor a list of about 6 or 7 properties for us to look at. They may not be EXACTLY what we want, but they may come close. We can always do something else with them.
Bethany's GS troop helped out with the Relay for Life Friday night at the county fair grounds. She has been miserable every since. Allergies. And today at school she was running track and wrenched her knee. I took a knee brace to school for her. I offered crutches (LOL) but she said she would live without them. I told her to get used to that feeling if she is planning on being in marching band!
TJ took his gf to buy her a b-day present yesterday. She wanted a ring. I winced. BUT, she is a practical girl. She picked out a nice one, on sale and nothing high priced to begin with. She gets after him to get his school work done (and he has been doing better) and she tells him to listen to his mother. (LOL)
Troy's body is getting used to playing golf again. Sore. Aches. Pains.
As for me, tomorrow night is my final for my computer class. Then I will be doing two online ones this summer. yay
That's about it. Life is not so exciting. It is good.
